Could a GLP-1 prescription be suitable for me?
The first step is taking our Aging Wellness Assessment, the most comprehensive health assessment available. It includes a detailed look at 55+ biomarkers, BMI calculation, Subjective Age Assessment, bone density scan, cognitive health evaluation, and a one-hour diagnostic review with a clinician. Based on your results, your Modern Age clinician will recommend the Modern Age Weight Loss Program if you are eligible.
Who is eligible for weight loss medications?
Generally, people with a BMI>27 with additional risk factors or those with a BMI>30 are eligible for GLP-1 medication. Your Modern Age clinician will advise whether you are a candidate for GLP-1 medication. If you are not, you will be suitable for a Metformin prescription under our Weight Loss Program.
How much weight will I lose?
On average, people lose 15% of their body weight on GLP-1 medication when they also make consistent lifestyle changes. Patients on Metformin medication lose an average of 5-7% of their body weight. Everyone responds to medications differently, and your Modern Age clinician is here to work with you to optimize your outcome.
Can I use insurance?
Insurance coverage varies depending on your personal insurance and eligibility. Our pharmacy partner works to get the most cost-effective GLP-1 or Metformin medication option. If medication is not covered by insurance, you will be alerted, and we will work with you to figure out the right next steps.
What GLP-1 medications does Modern Age prescribe? And how much do they cost?
Modern Age prescribes Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Rybelsus. The cost of these prescriptions varies depending on your insurance coverage. If insurance does not cover these prescriptions and you decide to purchase the medication, you can expect to spend $900-1600 monthly on your GLP-1 medicine. GLP-1 medication costs are additional to the Modern Age Weight Loss program costs.
Are there any alternatives to GLP-1s?
Metformin is an oral medication that has been clinically linked with weight loss. It belongs to a group of drugs known as biguanide antihyperglycemic agents, which help stabilize blood sugar levels by curbing glucose production in the liver. Your follow-up appointments will be focused on your progress, what is working well, and areas of improvement. Your clinician will answer any questions you have and work with you to provide the recommendations you need to hit your goals.
What are the side effects of GLP-1 medication?
Potential side effects of GLP-1s include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and an increased risk of thyroid cancer.
What should I know about GLP-1 medication shortages?
Modern Age works closely with our pharmacy partner to help eligible customers receive their medication quickly - typically within 48 hours. Our pharmacy partner monitors nationwide inventory for all FDA-approved GLP-1 medications and proactively alerts Modern Age of any supply issues.
What are the side effects of Metformin?
Potential side effects of Metformin include stomach discomfort, cough, diarrhea, shallow breathing, decreased appetite and a metallic taste in the mouth.
Do you offer refunds on the Weight Loss Program?
Modern Age offers a refund on our Weight Loss Program up until you have purchased your first GLP-1 or Metformin prescription with our pharmacy partner. Post purchase, we do not offer refunds due to cost of prescription, side effects or other factors.
