PRP Injections for Hair Loss

Book Appointment

Starting at $1200/session

Restore, thicken, and strengthen hair.

  • How it works

Your blood contains Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) that helps restore growth when injected into the scalp.

  • How it feels

The injections can be uncomfortable, so we numb the area before treatment to help ease any pain.

  • Good to know

We recommend at least 3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart for best results, then continuing single treatments every 4-6 months.

What it treats

  • Hair loss

  • Thinning hair

  • PRP Injections

Your clinician will first do a blood draw, then process the blood through a special centrifuge. This separates out the platelet-rich plasma containing key growth nutrients. Next, we’ll numb the target areas of the scalp with a prescription strength cream. Several injections will then be given to slow hair loss and stimulate growth over time.

    • 1 session $1200
    • 3 sessions $3000

Common Questions

What are PRP Injections?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is rich with growth factors which trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration. It has been used to treat joints and skin but also has been discovered to preserve and stimulate hair growth when injected into the scalp.
Your visit starts with a blood draw by an experienced clinician. This sample is then specially processed to isolate the PRP component of your blood. The clinician then uses a potent topical cream to numb your scalp at the areas intended for treatment.
Small amounts of your PRP are then injected into the scalp skin, with the number of injections varying from person to person.
This treatment delivers growth factors and increases blood flow to hair follicles, stimulating growth for new and existing hair.
Is there downtime?
While you can resume normal activities, you can expect some degree of soreness, swelling, itching and bruising at the injection sites which typically heal over 2-5 days. Lighter soreness may continue for 1-2 weeks.

Is it safe?
PRP injections are nonsurgical, with no significant safety risks. The most common side effects are mild pain, redness, and pinpoint bleeding in the injection sites. Risks of infection and bleeding are very low with appropriate hygiene.

When will I see results?
Typically results are visible 3-6 months after your first treatment. Even beyond this time frame, the PRP will continue to help stimulate growth for the next 6-9 months. The level of improvement you’ll see depends on factors like amount, spacing, and timing of your hair loss.

How long do PRP injection results last?
The usual recommended regimen is 3-6 treatments with one session every 4-6 weeks. Maintenance sessions are then recommended every 4-6 months for optimal results. The routine and outcomes vary person to person, but your Modern Age clinician can help determine what is best for you.
