Product Information

Who it's for
Anyone looking to prevent or treat wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots, or discoloration can benefit from bringing Adapalene into their skincare routine.

It should not be used by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Benefits
Commonly known for its acne treating benefits, Adapalene is also proven to improve skin texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles over time. It's also shown to be gentler on the skin than other retinoids.
What to expect
Results:
  • When using Adapalene for wrinkles and fine lines, patience and consistency is key.

  • On average, it takes 6-12 months to see visible improvements in wrinkles, but some people see improvement as early as 3 months. Improvements in skin vitality, tone, and texture are often visible much sooner.

  • Downsides:
  • Adapalene can cause increased skin sensitivity and dryness, particularly in the first few weeks of use. To help minimize these side effects, we recommend starting out using it only once or twice a week, then gradually using it more frequently over the next few weeks.

    Common Questions

How long will I need to be on this cream?
In order to sustain the benefits, Adapalene Gel should be applied on an ongoing basis. Your Modern Age clinician can help create a personalized plan that works for your skin goals.
When should I apply this cream?
We recommend applying Adapalene at bedtime after washing your face. Applying at nighttime helps prevent any sun damage from increased sensitivity. Also, this is when skin cell repair is at its peak.
What is some of the research behind Adapalene?
Adapalene is a third-generation retinoid that has been studied in numerous trials that show it's highly effective at improving the appearance of wrinkles. It's also shown to have a low risk of skin irritation.
What is the difference between this and over-the-counter retinol?
Retinol and Adapalene are both part of the “retinoid” family, but they’re not identical. They both increase cell turnover to help with skin texture and elasticity, but Adapalene is also shown to help unclog pores and reduce inflammation while staying gentle on skin.
When you see that we offer .1% prescription tretinoin but .5% over-the-counter retinol products, the percentages aren't comparable. Adapalene is a different, potent-yet-gentle substance that we prescribe for people looking to treat wrinkles, fine lines, discoloration, and more.
