    What to expect
    Results:

  • 1-2 months: When you start taking Finasteride, it immediately gets to work, blocking the conversion of testosterone into DHT (the hormone responsible for hair loss). However, the Finasteride has to keep accumulating over time before you’ll see results, so be sure to keep taking it consistently.

  • 3-4 months: You should start to see some results, such as mild regrowth in areas of your scalp with thinning hair, or a decrease in daily shedding.

  • 6-9 months: You can expect to see full results of Finasteride around this time. This could mean your hair loss has slowed down or stabilized, or that you experience regrowth in areas of your scalp that had been thinning.

    • Downsides:

  • Potential side effects include a decrease in sex drive, difficulty getting or keeping an erection, and a decrease in the amount of semen released during sex. There could also be an increased risk of prostate cancer. These side effects were reported in people taking the 5mg dose rather than the 1mg dose that we prescribe at Modern Age. As always, let your Modern Age clinician know if you are experiencing any side effects.
