Why you'll love it

If you’re experiencing leaks when you jump or sneeze, you’re not alone. A quarter of all women and over half of women over age 50 experience incontinence, but there are not many treatment options.

Electromagnetic Pelvic Floor Therapy helps strengthen the muscles supporting your vagina and bladder. By simply sitting on the chair-like device, electromagnetic energy delivers up to 11,000 muscle contractions (like Kegels) in a single session. In a small clinical study, 95% of patients saw improvement in incontinence after completing 3 sessions.

About the experience

  • How to prep

Prior to your first treatment, your clinician will do a vaginal exam to confirm eligibility. During treatment, you’ll be fully clothed. We recommend wearing loose fitting pants with no zippers.

  • How it feels

The contractions are not painful. Most people say it feels like a tingling session gradually increasing during the 30 minute session.

  • Good to know

If you have any metal in your body, such as an IUD or piercings, this treatment may not be appropriate.

Common Questions

Who is Electromagnetic Pelvic Floor Therapy for?
This treatment is for women with moderate or minor incontinence, which means you experience leaks during specific activities such as laughing, sneezing, or jumping. It also addresses sudden strong urges to empty your bladder. These issues can be especially common for women post childbirth or peri and post-menopause.
How will Electromagnetic Pelvic Floor Therapy help me?
Emsella uses electromagnetic energy to strengthen and tone the muscle of the pelvic floor, which works to restore bladder and vaginal support and balance pressure at the urethra. This helps your body better control when the bladder releases, so you can stay dry until it’s time to go. Some patients also report improved sexual sensation after this therapy.
When can I expect results?
You can expect full results after 6 sessions, but many people have reported noticing improvements earlier. After all sessions are completed, you can expect your bladder control to continue to improve over the next few weeks. Results typically last 6 months, so maintenance sessions are recommended.
Does it hurt?
No, the treatment is not painful and no anesthetic is required. You can expect to feel a gradually increasing tingling sensation in the pelvic area. There is no direct vaginal insertion during the treatment.
How often should I get this treatment?
We recommend doing 6 sessions total, with 2 sessions per week for 3 weeks. After you've completed this, your clinician will recommend when to come in for maintenance sessions.
What should I expect after treatment?
There is no downtime after treatment, and you can feel free to continue your regular activities including bathing, exercise and intimacy right away.
What should I wear to my treatment?
You’ll be fully clothed during treatment. We recommend you wear loose fitting pants with no zippers. If you have any metal in your body, this treatment might not be appropriate.
