Common Questions
Who is Electromagnetic Pelvic Floor Therapy for?
This treatment is for women with moderate or minor incontinence, which means you experience leaks during specific activities such as laughing, sneezing, or jumping. It also addresses sudden strong urges to empty your bladder. These issues can be especially common for women post childbirth or peri and post-menopause.
How will Electromagnetic Pelvic Floor Therapy help me?
Emsella uses electromagnetic energy to strengthen and tone the muscle of the pelvic floor, which works to restore bladder and vaginal support and balance pressure at the urethra. This helps your body better control when the bladder releases, so you can stay dry until it’s time to go. Some patients also report improved sexual sensation after this therapy.
When can I expect results?
You can expect full results after 6 sessions, but many people have reported noticing improvements earlier. After all sessions are completed, you can expect your bladder control to continue to improve over the next few weeks. Results typically last 6 months, so maintenance sessions are recommended.
Does it hurt?
No, the treatment is not painful and no anesthetic is required. You can expect to feel a gradually increasing tingling sensation in the pelvic area. There is no direct vaginal insertion during the treatment.
How often should I get this treatment?
We recommend doing 6 sessions total, with 2 sessions per week for 3 weeks. After you've completed this, your clinician will recommend when to come in for maintenance sessions.
What should I expect after treatment?
There is no downtime after treatment, and you can feel free to continue your regular activities including bathing, exercise and intimacy right away.
What should I wear to my treatment?
You’ll be fully clothed during treatment. We recommend you wear loose fitting pants with no zippers. If you have any metal in your body, this treatment might not be appropriate.
Is Neurofeedback a prescribed medical treatment?
Neurofeedback is an over the counter wellness treatment. By placing an order, you are not engaging in a patient and medical provider relationship.
